The Importance of Vet Tech Specialization To help vet techs looking to advance their careers through a veterinary specialization, this article breaks down which vet tech specializations have the highest salaries, and what training is required to become a VTS in that discipline. Upon successful completion of all studies and examinations, a vet tech will become a VTS or VNS. This requirement is in addition to the standard two years it takes to complete a vet tech program at the community college level.
